HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) After winning the Norca Tournament held in Mexico undefeated, the Cuban women's handball team won its ticket to the World Championship in Germany and the Netherlands 2025.
Cubans closed their participation in the tournament with a 32-21 victory over the hosts in the final, crowning themselves as the top dominators of the continental competition.
With Niurkis Mora as the best player of the tournament, the Cuban women completed an undefeated preliminary phase, beating Puerto Rico (35-23), Canada (29-19), Mexico (27-21) and the United States (34-16), accumulating a +56 goal differential, showing its supremacy on the court.
This victory makes them the historical leaders of Norca, with three titles in six editions disputed, followed by Puerto Rico, with two, and Greenland (1).
Cubans return to the World Cup after being absent in the last editions, with their last participation in 2019.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Caribbean women will seek to improve on their historic eighteenth place finish in their last World Cup participation.
