ARC/PLC enrollment deadline nears for Nebraska farmers

ARC/PLC enrollment deadline nears for Nebraska farmers
April 7th, 2025 | RRN Staff

Nebraska producers have until April 15, 2025, to enroll in the USDA’s Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2025 crop year. Administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA), these safety net programs help protect against significant price and revenue losses.

So far, Nebraska producers have signed over 74,000 contracts, or 84% of the expected total. Tim Divis, Deputy State Executive Director for Nebraska FSA, urged producers to contact their county FSA office as soon as possible. “ARC and PLC offer excellent risk protection at no cost to the producer,” Divis said.

Farmers can choose ARC-County or PLC for crop-specific protection, or ARC-Individual for whole-farm coverage. Even if no changes are made from 2024 elections, a signed contract is still required each year. Without enrollment by April 15, producers will be ineligible for payments.

Eligible crops include corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, grain sorghum, sunflower seed, and many others.

Producers can learn more about 2025 program options through a webinar developed by Nebraska FSA and UNL’s Center for Agricultural Profitability, available online.

Reminder: ECAP Application Still Open
While at FSA offices, producers are encouraged to also apply for the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP), which provides up to $10 billion in direct payments for 2024 crop year losses. Applications are due by August 15, 2025, and can be submitted in person, electronically, or online at fsa.usda.gov/ecap.

For more information on ARC, PLC, ECAP, or other FSA programs, contact your local USDA Service Center or visit farmers.gov.
