Jordan Chiles is giving it back to her haters in some style! After winning the bronze medal in the Olympics, Chiles was on top of the moon. Unfortunately, the joy was short-lived. The CAS ruled that Coach Cecile Landi’s appeal that had catapulted Chiles to the 3rd spot came in 4 seconds too late. Consequently, she was stripped of her medal, thus triggering the beginning of a long-drawn legal battle. This was just the beginning of her turmoil. What followed was much more sinister. A barrage of online hate that took some serious toll on the gymnast, leading her to coil inside a shell. Bad times, however, do not last forever, and her recent exploits are the only answer she needed to give her haters.
Jordan Chiles’ decision to return to the UCLA Bruins has now come full circle. Dropping a score of 197.625, the Bruins placed second at the NCAA Regional finals, just behind the No.4 seed, Utah (197.825). Meanwhile, soon after securing the emphatic win, Jordan Chiles decided to give a piece of her mind to her haters. Taking to her Instagram, Chiles posted her pictures in fun mood with the caption, “You see us rollin’ they hatin’… Of to NATTYS we go. P.S. Olympians do eat cotton candy.” Oh and yes, Chiles indeed could be spotted enjoying a cotton candy with a big smile on his face.
Surely, Jordan Chiles has every right to feel proud. After all, she did prove her mettle as one of the senior gymnasts in the team. Continuing her fine form at Salt Lake City, Chiles dropped an impressive 9.825 on the floor. However, her biggest success came while on the balance beam and uneven bars. Securing a 9.900 on both, Chiles significantly helped her team cross the line.

At UCLA, Jordan isn’t just competing—she’s healing. Two perfect 10s later, her Bruins are sitting at No. 2 nationally, and Chiles is finding her rhythm in a setting where she’s both celebrated and is allowed to be human at the same time. The pressure of Olympic scrutiny had taken a toll. But the college environment helped her tremendously to shift her mindset. “If I had the choice, I wouldn’t share anything about my life,” Chiles told TIME, acknowledging the burden of living under the microscope.
Yet, she’s channeled that exposure into purpose. Recognizing her place in a legacy bigger than herself, Chiles stated, “We had people before us who were able to walk for others to run”. Now, with every beam routine and floor set, she’s showing the next generation that strength isn’t about silence. Rather, it’s more about rising.
