• The Indiana Lakes Management Work Group that had its birth in Angola has been charged with another two-year assignment to try to identify and solve problems with Indiana’s fresh water lakes. The group received another two-year assignment when a bill authored by Sen. Robert Meeks, R-LaGrange, was approved by the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Frank O’Bannon. The bill reestablishes the group, whose first two year assignment ended on Dec. 31, 1999. Meeks said he authored the bill because much of the 41 recommendations from the group had not been completed or acted upon by the Legislature or the Natural Resources Commission.
