President Barzani at ADF2025: Meeting Syria’s al-Sharaa

Shafaq News/ Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with Syrian transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa on Friday during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF2025).
According to a statement from the Regional Presidency, the leaders emphasized the importance of fostering future relations between Syria, Iraq, and Kurdistan based on good neighborliness and shared interests. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the fight against ISIS.
President al-Sharaa outlined his vision for an inclusive Syria that embraces all communities and ensures constitutional protections for all citizens. President Barzani commended this inclusive approach and underscored the necessity of achieving peace and stability through political solutions that guarantee the rights of all components, particularly the Kurdish population in Syria.
The two leaders also discussed the broader regional crisis and its implications for both Iraq and Syria, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts to address shared challenges.

The ADF2025, held from April 11 to 13 under the theme “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World,” convened over 4,000 participants, including 20 heads of state and government, 50 foreign ministers, and 70 other cabinet-level officials.
